A one day itinerary to Los Angeles's must see attractions

Los Angeles is most famous for being the centre of the world’s entertainment industry. Spend your morning exploring the glamorous Hollywood Boulevard and your afternoon discovering a bit of history downtown, before you get ready to party with the rich and famous on Sunset Boulevard.

The Griddle Café
The Griddle Café on Sunset Boulevard is the best breakfast experience in LA and features every type of pancake you can imagine. The coffee is fresh and the service is great, so do indulge in something special here before hitting Hollywood Boulevard.

Hollywood Boulevard
This is where you’ll find some of the biggest tourist attractions in the city - The Walk of Fame for its stars, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre for its hand and foot prints and the Hollywood/Highland plaza for shopping. For more upscale retail therapy head to Beverly Hills and the world-famous Rodeo Drive, or the chic-boutique strip of Melrose Avenue.

Mel’s Drive-In
After a few hours of intense sightseeing and shopping, pop in to Mel’s Drive-In for traditional diner fare: cheeseburgers, French fries and milkshakes. After lunch head downtown to explore some history and architectural masterpieces.

Music Centre
The Music Centre is home to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Ahmanson Theatre, Mark Taper Forum and Walt Disney Concert Hall. Admire impressive hall architecture before catching a taxi up to the Union Station - as no trip to downtown LA is complete without a visit to this historic train station.

Union Station
The Union Station was built in 1939 with a Spanish mission exterior. The large waiting room and restaurant appears like it would have looked like in the 1940’s – which is why it has been featured in a lot of movies.

Olvera Street
Across the street from Union Station you’ll find the historic centre of LA - where the city was founded as El Pueblo de Los Angeles. The oldest house in the city is located here and you can take a tour to see what it looked like at that time. The plaza is now mostly filled with Mexican shops and restaurants so sit down and have a spicy dinner before heading back to your hotel to freshen up.

Sunset Strip
The Strip is probably the best known portion of Sunset Boulevard - embracing a premier collection of rock clubs and nightclubs that are on the cutting edge of the entertainment industry. It is also known for its trademark array of huge, colourful billboards and has developed notoriety as a hang out for rock stars, movie stars and entertainers… so get ready to party with the rich and famous.
